- I'm seraching for an option on my MacBook Pro to use it in a presentation mode, which means not the full screen mode entering by pressing cmd+esc. I need to alter the energy options to disable the screensaver and never put the display in sleep mode. Is there a shortcut available? Btw: Which preferences file is responsible for the energy settings?
- Nov 01, 2017 I have a MacBook Pro and for presentations, I hook it up to a single projector via HDMI or VGA/dongle. The problem is that whenever I use Presenter View (MacBook Pro, PowerPoint 2016, 16x9), the image does not project full-screen. However, when I use normal Slide Show view, it is full-screen.
- Deskset Mac presentation software lets you control how your slideshow looks using markdown language. Use configuration commands to automatically scale text, build lists or footers, and much more. Rehearsal mode helps you to prepare for your presentation. Plus, you can switch quickly between different aspect ratios.
A PowerPoint presentation is a rather useful Microsoft tool for sharing information with others in an effective way. Users who move from Windows to Mac OS X or macOS wish to know whether they can create such presentations on Apple computers. Jan 05, 2020 To switch between apps while in full-screen mode, you can use a three-finger swipe gesture on your Mac trackpad or use the Command + Tab shortcut keys. How to exit full-screen mode. Hover your cursor over the top left corner of the screen until you see the window bar. Then click the Exit full-screen button. It's red and looks like an X.

OS X :: How To Zoom In Powerpoint Presentation Mode
Jul 7, 2010I use powerpoint for mac a lot and like to zoom during a presentation by holding the control button and slide two fingers across the trackpad, but that only seems to work if display mirroring is enabled. If it's running the two monitors side by side (presentation view mode), and I try to zoom, it zooms way off center or way off where the mouse cursor is. Does anyone know how to zoom the right way when in presentation mode?
Mac Pro :: Crashing New 8 Core Whenever View PowerPoint (08) Or Keynote (09) File In Presentation Mode
Jun 10, 2009I just got a 8 core Mac Pro at work and it has developed a nasty crashing habit. I think that I have narrowed the problem down, but I wanted to see if anyone had any advice. The machine crashes whenever I view a PowerPoint (08) or Keynote (09) file in presentation mode. In the current setup I have the presentation on one screen and my notes and information on the other screen. I am running dual 24 inch LED monitors (not mirrored) and when I disconnnect one of them, there is no crashing and the presentations work great. I have two NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 video cards.
OS X :: Won't Run In Regular Mode / Stuck In Safe Mode
Nov 30, 2008my computer wont run in regular mode. The problem occurred when I was changing my resolution and I pressed the wrong one. The screen went blank so I restarted, then the screen turned black after the apple logo. Now I can only run in safe boot. Is there any way to change the res. for the regular boot in the safe boo mode?
OS X :: MacBook Stuck In Clamshell Mode
Dec 26, 2009I had a problem with my laptop where the lcd on the monitor does not always work, presumed to be due to a loose inverter cable or something similar to this. As a temporary solution I have been using an external monitor for the past few days. Depending on whether the laptop lcd is working, I have had it on both mirrored and dual monitor settings. However, this evening when I have come to use it, the external monitor is now the only one that is working. Options to turn off mirror display have now gone. Also, the button on my mouse pad no longer works, yet the pad itself does.
I have come to the conclusion that my laptop is in 'clamshell' mode. It remains on, and does not sleep when I close the lid. I have put it to sleep form the apple menu, disconnected the external monitor, and the opened the lid again, and when it turns back on from sleep, the screen flashes on for a second, but then goes to sleep again. I have tried turning it off, restarting, taking the battery out, everything I can think of, but unless the external monitor is connected it almost immediately goes back to sleep.

MacBook Pro :: Get Files Off Of A Stuck In Sleep Mode?
Jul 3, 2012A bit of a backstory: Recently my mid-2008 MacBook Pro stopped working. When I try to boot it up, the screen just stays black and the idle light flashes perpetually. I've reset the NVRAM and SMC, even attached it to an external monitor, but nothing works. After a lot of research, I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the hall effect switch. But I digress; I don't actually need this computer repaired, as I have a second (newer) MacBook Pro I can use. However, there are some files on the old one that I'd like to retrieve. And yes, I've tried booting into target disk mode, which unfortunately doesn't work for reasons listed above. Essentially what I'm asking is, is there a way I could transfer the files off the old computer to the new one? I know, I should take it to the Apple store, but that's not really an option right now due to personal reasons.

MacBook Pro :: Stuck In Sleep Mode After Update Now Not Booting
Jun 21, 2010I have an older but babied 2008ish Macbook Pro. Today upgraded my 3GS to os 4 with no problem. I downloaded a couple things but didn't go crazy today. I left work and shut lid. When I got home it was stuck on the screen saver password for a long time. I turned off the unit and now it just boots to a white screen. I can boot via OSX disc but it also doesn't see HD. This is a 500gb Seagate drive and I'm screwed if it's dead. Any suggestions to at least get to my bootcamp partition?
MacBook Pro :: Trackpad Frequently Gets Stuck In Right Click Mode
Mar 23, 2012This happens once or twice a day and is very annoying. I will be browsing on Firefox, for instance, and I will scroll down and for whatever reason, after that any click will be interpreted as a right click, bringing up the contextual menu. It does not happen when I'm using a wireless trackpad; only with the trackpad on the computer itself. It will fix itself after a few minutes, again with no reason.

OS X :: Mac Keeps Getting Stuck In Sleep Mode?
Feb 11, 2010Second time since yesterday-My MacBook (White-2007) has been stuck in the sleep mode and the only way for me to get out of it was to force shutdown. (Pressed the power button for ~5 seconds.)
The white sleep light had stalled and was not blinking-Is this an indication of software problems, or that my harddrive is about to fail?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Stuck In Recovery Mode - Cannot Erase Hard Drive
Mar 28, 2012I tried reformatting while running Snow Leopard, but the option was grayed out and the install disc made the computer hang at the white bootup screen. I figured I'd just upgrade to Lion and do a clean install (not an option).Â
After upgrading to Lion, I booted into recovery to erase the hard drive. I did it and it took less than ten seconds (bad sign).Â
Now I can't get past recovery and the hard drive is still full.Â

Power Mac :: G5 Stuck At Light Blue Screen - Will Not Even Boot In Safe Mode
Mar 22, 2012I have a 2.0 GHz early 2005 Power Mac G5 (7,3) that won't get past the light blue screen at start-up. I've tried everything - reset the PRAM, Apple Hardware Check (on overnight loops, everything came back OK), fsck (all OK), repaired my HD and permissions on it, and then erased the drive using Target Disk Mode and another Mac, and attempted to reinstall OSX from the install disk that came with it (with OSX Tiger). I've tried switching out the RAM with no luck.
The only thing I haven't tried is a new video card (the installed one is an ATI Radeon 9600). Here's what it does: powers on with the usual chime, then moves on to the white Apple screen, the wheel spins, then it moves on to a darker blue screen, then it finally moves on to a lighter blue screen with an arrow, and it just stays there. It will boot into safe mode (pressing shift), but I can't even upgrade to Leopard in safe mode, much less figure out what's wrong.

MacBook Pro :: 15' Stuck In 'Better Battery Life' Graphics Mode
Aug 27, 2009I have a unibody 15' macbook pro. I'll go into my energy saver. The 'better battery life' box is checked. So I go ahead and check the 'Better Performance' box. I log out, and log back in. I go to my graphics settings and the 'Better Performance' box is checked, however it still says next to it - you must log out for the changes to take affect.. funny since I just logged out. I tried doing an smc/pram/nvram reset.. but nope
Just to prove the 'better performance' isn't happening, I ran an xbench test before and after I logged out into the better performance modes. The graphics scores were pretty much exactly the same. Here's a post on the Apple forums w/ someone w/ the same problem.

Being a recent 'switcher' from being stereotypical PC user, when I started using my MacBook Pro in recent months I found some things missing in OSX that I was used to in Window's laptops .. one thing being a presentation power mode so that the MacBook Pro screen wouldn't dim and black out without any mouse activity. To be honest I wasn't using it for doing presentations, but I was watching a show on Hulu. It was irritating when the screen would keep on blacking out during an exciting scene.
Finally I figured out how to set the MBP to have a 'presentation' power mode. In System Preferences, click on 'Energy Saver'. When set to settings for 'Battery', set Optimization to 'Custom'. Set sleep options to an hour or never. Under Options uncheck 'slightly dim the display when using this power source'. Also uncheck the next option, too, for auto reducing brightness.
Then the next time you want to watch Hulu or actually do a presentation, click on the battery icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen and set the Power Mode to 'Custom'.
Perhaps there was an easier way to set an MBP to presentation power mode. But I never found it. This worked for me.
